Full strip and refinish for commercial VCT — scheduled overnight or on weekends so the floor is dry and open when the doors are.
Strip and wax removes every layer of old finish down to the tile, then rebuilds it. It is the right call when a floor has yellowed, when finish has built up unevenly in traffic lanes, or when recoating has stopped producing gloss.
AUS performs strip and wax across Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio for retail, banking, medical office, and commercial facilities — on overnight and weekend windows so the space is ready for business.
| Stage | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Preparation | Furniture and fixtures moved, edges taped |
| Strip | Old finish chemically removed and extracted |
| Neutralize | Floor rinsed and pH-neutralized |
| Finish | 4–6 coats applied with cure time between |
| Detail | Baseboards, corners, and edge work |
A strip and wax is a dedicated job. It cannot be squeezed into a nightly janitorial route, and a floor that is rushed back into service before finish cures will fail early.
AUS schedules this work overnight, on weekends, or during closures — whatever window the facility can give. For retail and banking clients we have run this work after close and had the floor open the next business morning.
If the finish is intact but dull, a scrub and recoat restores it at a fraction of the cost and downtime. Stripping is warranted when finish has yellowed, built up unevenly, or is failing at the tile.
We will tell you which one the floor actually needs. A contractor who recommends a full strip on every floor is selling labor, not maintenance.
Each visit produces a closeout report — scope completed, before-and-after photos, materials used, and manager sign-off where required. It is the difference between believing the work happened and being able to show it. See the four-stage restoration case study for a documented job start to finish.
Primary corridor is Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio, with local pages for Greenup County, KY, Ashland, KY, and Huntington, WV. Related services: commercial floor care, scrub and recoat, and post-construction cleaning.
Tell us the facility, the floor type or scope, and the timeline you are working against. Most requests get a response the same week.
